一系列颜料有关的颜色和工作性质，除了色质(hue)外，为颜料制造商需要加以标准的，有如下：
(1)颜色强度或看色强度(tinctorial or tinting strength)
(2)干燥细度(dry finess)
(3)结构组织(texture) (粗硬颗粒，扩散的容易程度，发展颜色强度的速度)
(grit，ease of dispersion，rate ofstrength development)
(4)比重(sp.gravity)，干体积(dry bulk)
(5)吸油度(oil absorption)
(6)溶剂渗出程度(solvent bleed)
(7)尘污特性(dustingcharacteristics)
(8)干燥外观(dry appearance)
(9)润湿特性(wetting characteristics)
(10)遮盖力(hiding power)(不透明度或透明度)(opacity ortransparency)
(11)在不同剂料本体中的流动性状(rheological behavi or in different vehicles)
(12)储藏安定性(storage stability)
(13)在溶剂中的结晶安定度(crystal stability insolvents)
(14)可燃性(combustibility)
(15)水份和挥发物质(moisture and volatile matter)
(16)吸水趋势(hydroscopic tendencies)
(17)水可溶盐类(water-soluble salts)
(18)对光牢固性，耐旋光性(light fasiness)
(19)在油漆中的光亮度(gloss in paint)
(20)在油漆中的结块情形(flocculation in paint)
